Description

The Muggio Valley is regarded as one of the most authentic areas in the canton of Ticino, with its tradition still vital and intact. Among the products characteristic of this sunny valley are several special types of cheese, including “Formaggini” and “Zincarlin”. Visit the show dairy in the old town of Mendrisio and learn about the traditional methods of cheese-making and the secrets behind how the cheeses are matured and stored in cellars made especially for this purpose. For groups of 12, it is well worth making a side trip to Salorino where you can visit one of these cellars which have been used for hundreds of years for storing cheese. Cheese-tasting is included.
