Motto d'Arbino Forest Reserve

The Motto d’Arbino Forest Reserve is unique. It’s not particularly accessible and there are no official paths. The terrain is a succession of escarpments, rocky walls, impervious and unstable ground. In fact, a large landslide struck this area in 1928. The collapsed material created the beautiful little Lake Orbello. The reserve covers a forest comprised primarily of beech and Norway spruce. Vast expanses are occupied by pioneer species, first and foremost birch.

In summary:

  • Area: 334 hectares
  • Altitude: 527-1,680 m a.s.l.
  • Main species: beech, Norway spruce, birch
  • Year of establishment: 2015
  • Owner: Patriziato di Arbedo
