Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI Lugano), directed by Tobia Bezzola, is one of only a handful of Swiss art museums that attract more than 100,000 visitors a year and has been a cultural crossroads between north and south of the Alps ever since it opened.
With numerous temporary exhibitions and regularly renewed displays of its collection, the museum offers visitors of all ages a packed programme of activities in its two locations: the newest, the beating heart of the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura cultural centre, and the historic Palazzo Reali, which will reopen in Autumn 2019 following a major refurbishment. In addition to the two MASI venues, the Collezione Giancarlo e Danna Olgiati opens to the public twice a year.
Included among the 13 Swiss museums supported by the Federal Office of Culture for the 2018-2022 period, MASI is part of "Art Museums of Switzerland", the group of art museums selected by Switzerland Tourism as a channel of international tourism promotion.
