19th february (kids carnival), 25th & 28th february 2017

Antique Carnival focussing on two main characters:  “belli” e “brutti”, the ugly and the beautiful: They wear traditional wooden masks carved by local sculptors, the Beautiful are elegant and symmetric, the Ugly are distorted, reprenting the rich but vain and the poor but humble. The characters fill the streets of the village and play jokes to each other and to the visitors. On Shrove Tuesday during the procession the Carlisep mask, representing Carnival, runs through the streets of Schignano trying to escape the bonfire, symbol of the end of the celebrations.
