Church of S. Croce

Overlooking Riva San Vitale from its elevated position on the town’s north side, the church of Santa Croce is one of the most important religious buildings in Switzerland.

This central plan Catholic church with its three chapels was commissioned by the noble Della Croce family and built in the late 16th century. Inside, you can admire fascinating frescoes of biblical scenes such as the Finding of the True Cross, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Sermon of Saint Bernardino.
