The Fossil Museum UNESCO World Heritage Site
At the Meride Fossil Museum, renovated and extended by Ticino architect, Mario Botta, you will see a selection of fossilised animals and plants from the Monte San Giorgio UNESCO World Heritage site, which is unique in the world. See a wide variety of creatures, populating what was then the sea and its coastline of Southern Ticino 245 to 180 million years ago, presented on four storeys. Illustrations and models make this long extinct world easier to understand.
