Culture
Ticino is a land of culture, of art and artists. The region is scattered with monuments and artworks of a rare beauty. All around, history, architecture and art intertwine, blending harmoniously into the landscape.
In the valleys, you will be enchanted by the delightful little Romanesque churches; in the towns and cities, by the geometric symmetries of contemporary architecture.
Among the museums and art galleries are some seventy cultural venues whose collections range from contemporary art to ethnography and science.
Ticino is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Monte San Giorgio, a geological treasure chest of a mountain that has revealed fossils of dinosaurs dating back more than 200 million years; and the three medieval castles of Bellinzona, which dominate the town and surrounding valley.
