How to get around
Travelling around Ticino is easy: buses, cable cars, funiculars, local railways and boats offer a host of ways of moving quickly and easily throughout the region.
Trains are comfortable, frequent and fast. The buses and postal buses – the emblematic yellow buses that criss-cross the whole of Switzerland – offer an excellent way of admiring the countryside en route and of reaching even the most isolated villages in the mountain valleys. You can explore the two main lakes using the scheduled boat services, or by hiring a yacht or motorboat. The highest mountain peaks, meanwhile, are served by a variety of cable cars, cog railways, gondolas, funiculars and chairlifts.
Ticino’s network of public transport and excursion facilities offers not just a comfortable journey but also a splendid opportunity to enjoy the sublime scenery and wonderful views.
