How to get here
Ticino is easy to reach, situated on the main transport route linking the north and south of Europe.
The airport of Lugano–Agno, located just a few kilometres from the city centre of Lugano, is connected by daily flights to the airports of Zurich, Geneva and Rome – and thereby to numerous destinations throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
The nearby airports of Milan, which can be reached in about an hour by car, offer further international connections.
Travelling by private car or bus, you can reach Ticino from the north via the A2 motorway and the Gotthard tunnel – or, during the summer months, via the magnificent alpine passes.
From the south, the region is easy to reach via the A9 from Milan – the Autostrada dei Laghi, or “Motorway of the Lakes” – or the A8 from Varese.
Finally, the efficient rail network of the Swiss Federal Railways links Ticino with most cities throughout Europe, and offers direct services to the cities of Basel, Zurich, Lucerne and Milan.
