The start is about 200 meters from where the aerial cable car arrives in Cardada in the direction of Cimetta. At the chairlift departure take the trail on the right and pass by the fountain. After about 300 meters, step onto the impressive terrace where you can admire the panorama that sweeps from the Bolle di Magadino nature reserve to the Tamaro and Gambarogno mountain tops, to the Brissago Islands, and to the Gridone (or Ghiridone) peak. There are several fountains along the path. At the junction head toward «Chiodo». This section is immersed in the woods. After crossing a series of wooden bridges, continue for a long stretch in the shade. Once you reach Chiodo, follow the steps that go down to the right. At the next junction keep left and follow the signs for «Giorledo». Walk through Giorledo and continue toward «San Bernardo» for about 2 km. Walk through the woods and enjoy beautiful glimpses of the lake. Once you reach San Bernardo, turn immediately right and take the steps that climb steeply between the houses. Once back in the woods you will see a trail on the right that leads to a 16th century oratory, which is worth a visit. The route, however, runs through the woods. Once you reach the paved road, cross it and continue on the well maintained path to Cardada.
