Mercato di Varese (Italia)

If you’re coming from the Sopraceneri, the quickest way to get to Varese is to head in the direction of Ponte Tresa at the Lugano-Nord motorway exit. A good alternative if you’re in Mendrisiotto is the motorway that takes you directly from Mendrisio to Varese.

The market offers all kinds of food: cheeses from the local region and from all over Italy, cold cuts and all types of meat, as well as fresh fish, specialities such as salted bread, focaccia bread and pizza by the slice, fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. There are also leather goods on offer, from bags and belts to leather jackets.  You can find clothes to suit all tastes, socks, tights, sophisticated underwear, shoes, and hats.  There are accessories for dress-making: buttons in all sizes and colours, fabrics, and wool. For when you want to refuel, you’ll find restaurants and bars all around the square, where you can taste real Italian coffee.
