

Bike Park Monte Tamaro
The “Monte Tamaro” mountain is located in the Lugano-Bellinzona-Locarno triangle. From Rivera, which is easily accessible by car and public transport, a convenient cableway whisks you up to Alpe Foppa at 1,530 metres above sea-level. With its big restaurant, and the Church of S. Maria degli Angeli (designed by architect Mario Botta), Alpe Foppa is also the starting point for walks with panoramic views as well as being home to an innovative play park for kids, a Alpine- Coaster bobs, Flying Fox and a new track for Downhill fans.
The Adventure Park, meeting point with snack bar and the Bike Park are situated at the cableway’s middle station.
MOUNTAIN BIKE
Besides the two classic routes, mountain bikers can enjoy:
– the Downhill trail running from Alpe Foppa to the middle cableway station
– the Freeride trail from the middle station to Rivera, starting at the cableway station, and
– the Bike Park at the middle station
The Downhill and Freeride trails are ideal for perfecting technique and training (full-face helmet mandatory, see Rules)
The Monte Tamaro company does not rent out mountain bikes.
Downhill trail Alpe Foppa – Piano di Mora (intermediate) (Black Trail)
The trail starts next to the top cableway station (alt. 1,532 metres) and ends at the middle station (alt. 1,150 metres).
It is 1,610 metres long, with a height difference of 382 metres.
Bike wash service available at the middle and base cableway stations.
Freeride trail: Middle station - Rivera (Black Trail)
The trail starts near the middle cableway station at 1,150 metres above sea-level and ends at Rivera at 470 metres above sea-level.
Bike Park at the Piano di Mora (middle station)
An area between the middle cableway station and the forest to the north has been set aside for a number of artificial paths where bikers can practice all sorts of manoeuvres. The features are designed for various levels of difficulty and for bikers with various skill sets. (Helmet mandatory, see Rules)
The Bike Park features:
- 4 "drops" with heights ranging from 1 to 4 metres
- 10 different jumps of varying heights
- 3 humps
- 1 step up
- 1 45° basin
- 1 wallride
- 1 line with parabolic rollers and jumps
Generally speaking, there are 4 levels of difficulty:
- Easy
- Moderate
- Difficult
- Pro
Open all day from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. / July-August from 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Last cableway from the middle station leaves at 4.30 p.m./ July-August 5.30 p.m.
