Who could imagine that a region of the dimensions of Ticino could boast some eighty museums? Along to some exhibition sites which are part of the history and tradition like Villa Ciani in Lugano, other structures are showing evidences and traces dedicated to the most diverse characters and themes. There are museums especially dedicated to kids, like the Bellinzona "Museo in erba", to history, natural science, ethnography, painting, sculpture, photography enthusiasts. The writer Hermann Hesse, the sculptor Vincenzo Vela, the artists Wilhelm Schmid and Ignaz Epper, the musician Ruggero Leoncavallo, all have a place which recalls, through their works, letters, paintings and objects, their extraordinary lives. The ethnographic museums scattered through the valleys offer a portrait of rural life: in Loco, Sonogno, Cevio, Giornico, Bosco Gurin and other villages, daily life objects tell us how people were living, in the alpages, farming, weaving, spinning, cheese making, cultivating the ground and the vineyard. And for the greedy ones, there are museums dedicated to chocolate, coffee, wine... and maybe, during a visit, you will have the chance of some tasting... If you want to smile, there?s the comic museum wanted by the clown Dimitri, whereas for a moment of meditation you can visit the museums of sacred art. And again, to satisfy any taste, the radio, photographic cameras, touristic posters, military forts, or customs museum...
