In the morning, it
looks as though someone has actually painted the sky that special
shade of swimming pool blue, where the sun bathes so contentedly.
The big Wideworld - in a small region
Summer certainly feels at home in Switzerland's southern
canton. It arrives early and leaves late, like a good friend, and the
300?000 inhabitants of Ticino do everything they can to make it feel
at home. Not completely Swiss, and certainly not Italian, they have
adopted the best features from both sides: from the South, the
hospitality and relaxed attitude, and from the North, the love of
order and security. It is no wonder then, to discover that the people
of Ticino are real homebodies, extremely reluctant to leave their
beautiful homeland.
Rather than travelling the world, they get away from it all in
their cool valleys or tend to their magnificent gardens and parks and
mention at every opportunity that the big wide world can be found
right here in Ticino. At least from a botanical point of view, because
in Ticino's exceptionally mild climate, luxuriant vegetation,
found nowhere else in Switzerland, grows, blossoms and thrives.
